Youth Programs 2025-26 - Chews from the HeArt The Recreation Department offers a diverse range of activities tailored for youth aged 3-17. Whether you're looking to stay active, learn a new skill, or socialize with like-minded individuals, we have something for everyone.Acting and ImprovisationExcellent opportunity to gain the ability and confidence to express yourself.Ballet Dance IParticipants will learn the basic steps such as first position, second position, revele, and barre exercises.Ballet Dance IIA continuation of Ballet I in which participants will continue learning and practing Ballet Dance skills. Cardio KickboxingA 50-minute-cardio class with a core and stretch ending. Enjoy a high intensity cardio kickboxing class guaranteed to push every fitness level.Chews from the HeArtCalling on all young artists! Join Jamie Chew and the Color Crusaders in designing and painting custom shoes for a great cause. Each artist will create uniquely customized designs based on the preferences chosen by the recipient. Shoes and all painting materials will be provided. Participants will be selected.Fitness for the Fun of ItThis class will feature warm-ups, stretching, dancing and several cooperative activities that promote color, number, and shape recognition.Guitar for BeginnersStudents will learn the basics such as chords, finger strumming, and will learn to play a song.Karate Kofuja-DoKarate provides a full-body workout while improving strength and condition.Kids Night OutJoin us for some board games, crafts indoor activities, movies and a snack.September 13, 2024; October 11, 2024; November 8, 2024; January 17, 2025 and March 14, 2025.KeyboardA practical and simple method will be used in which students will learn the basics.Polynesian DanceParticipants will learn the basic steps of Hula Ori Tahiti. They will also learn to dance an Otea. They will learn about the Hawaiian instrument IPU and the Tahitian instrument Toere.Ritmos LatinosHave fun while learning to dance various styles of dance like Cumbia, Merengue, Bachata and others.Violin for BeginnersBeginner violin class where students will learn techniques, basic music theory, and fun beginner songs. Limited instruments are available to borrow on a first-come, first-serve basis with a deposit, CASH ONLY.Zumba for All This class is for youth, adults and Seniors and taught in Spanish.
